Depression Treatment
Have you ever wondered why you seem to lack motivation to do things that you enjoy? Maybe just last month you were looking forward to spending time with your friends and family or taking a vacation, but now it doesn’t feel as exciting. Are you tired all of the time, feeling drained from the day, but unable to point to anything that would explain why you are exhausted? You are not alone. Sometimes we find ourselves going through a rough patch, but other times we are struggling with depression. If you're unsure which one you're experiencing, it may be beneficial to talk to someone about your concerns. It is worth noting that there are symptoms that you may not even consider as part of depression, such as irritability or being quick to anger. This too can be part of a bigger picture than what initially meets the eye.
Living with depression
Depression can impact all aspects of your life, including work, relationships, parenting, and especially self-care. Maybe others have commented on your hygiene habits not knowing that it takes a tremendous amount of effort to get out of bed in the morning let alone get dressed and brush your teeth. Depression has a way of stealing the things that used to come with ease. I have had clients tell me that it feels like nobody understands them, even their closest family and friends. Sometimes arguments occur because you don’t feel up to engaging with others, but have difficulty expressing why being around people makes everything seem worse.

Depression is treatable
A psychiatric evaluation looks closely at how you see yourself and offers a perspective that is different than what depression tells you is true. At Hope Springs Psychiatry I take the time to get to know you, giving you space to open up when you feel comfortable. Medications can be helpful in reducing the intensity and/or frequency of depressive symptoms so that you can get back to feeling like yourself again.
